A perch for every bird but not a bird for every perch is my rule. Those that breed true to type generation to generation live here or go to other lofts. They are small to medium in size with tight vents, active eyes, small pupils and thick, soft plumage. Vitality, good health, solid conformation, supple feather and desire to perform are keys to owning a place in my loft. I never place a bird with a fellow fancier that is one which I would not keep for myself.  Believe in yourself and what you are doing and good things will follow. Sales hype and pedigrees don’t win races but patience and attention to detail does.

Apply patience, solid principles and follow the guidelines of legends in the sport like Steven Van Breemen and Professor Alfons Anker in developing a colony of pigeons, keep accurate records, and you will enjoy the experience to the fullest. Racing pigeons successfully entails a huge learning curve. With the many resources available it is up to the individual to discover and develop personalized methods that work best for them from season to season.
